It's been a while... I'm back!

It's been over a year! Dang, time flies... that's a good thing.  Lots has happened since my last post.

I moved up to Northern California for a taste of country life, started to teach drawing and painting classes at the School of Light & Color in Fair Oaks, and setting up a new wave of productivity.

I was recently selected to the final round of artists to be selected for a spot as a Live Painter for this years California Roots Festival! I've made it this far on my own, but the rest is up to YOU! I've got to beat the other 4 talented contestants with your vote! Voting starts tomorrow, Weds March 04th.  Help me reach the Cal Roots Fest this year so I can share my gift with the masses!

Here's the Voting page. You can start voting as early as midnight tonight!

I'll post updates about this during the week. Cheers!

Artist Showcase at the Tavern

You can see my paintings behind the bands.  Those where painted live in a concert environment, just like this one. Verve Syndicate organized their first monthly Artist Showcase.  They have continued the tradition each month with great success. Lots of talented people and fun crowd. Good times!

Westlake Village Artist Guild Demo

I did this Demo back in February. The raffle winner got to sit in front of 90 other artists as I demonstrated for the event. It was fun! I'll update the next posts with other events that occurred these past few months.

Me, Myself, and Us

This is me wearing my time traveling face. It's myself as I am now, as I have been, and as I am becoming. I grew up in Condor territory, so that's my buddy there overseeing that I come back to the present, safe and sound.

Alotl: x-mas weekend

This is my nephew Alotl. My youngest sitter yet. He did a great job trying to sit still. He looks a lot like his dad in this rendition.

Family Portrait Roadtrip

My prima Becky, wrapping up my tour in Fillmore

My niece Stephany

My tío Luis in Freemont.

This is my tía Zeferina from Sacramento.

My cousin Albert. Painted him while I passed by through Bakersfield on Thurs. Nov. 18. He was a great model. Went back to his pose right where he left off each time!

I told myself I'm going to stick to a monochrome palette for the next six months, but I'm trying out this duotone combination that Richard Robinson suggested to me of Burn Sienna and Ultramarine Blue plus white. I'm using Permalba white, which is a Titanium/Zinc mix. It's creamier and has less of a tinting strength than pure Titanium. I like it. It also seems less cool (blue) to me.
